Looking for a fun, energetic seasonal job where no two days are the same? Waldenwoods Resort is hiring Activities Team Staff, Grill Cooks, Shift Leaders, and an Activities Assistant to help create unforgettable experiences for our members and fellow staff.

Our Activities Department is the heart of the resort and includes the Marina, Pool, Activities Center, and Lakeside Café. Whether you love working with people, being outdoors, or leading a team, there’s a role for you here!

Available Positions & Pay Rates

Activities Team Staff

  • Ages: 16+

  • Season: May – October

Activities Team Members work across multiple areas of the resort and help bring the fun every day. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading sports, games, crafts, and special events

  • Assisting guests at the pool and marina

  • Working outdoors on the lake

  • Supporting daily activities and special celebrations

  • Helping operate the Lakeside Café

This role is perfect for outgoing, dependable people who enjoy variety, teamwork, and creating memorable guest experiences.

Grill Cook – Lakeside Café

  • Pay: Higher hourly rate than standard Activities Team pay

  • Season: May – October

Grill Cooks play a key role in keeping our Lakeside Café running smoothly. Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and cooking grill items efficiently and safely

  • Maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards

  • Working during busy peak times with a positive attitude

  • Supporting café operations as part of a team

Shift Leader

  • Pay: $15.00 per hour

  • Season: May – October

Shift Leaders help guide daily operations and support staff during their shifts. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with scheduling and task coordination

  • Supporting and mentoring team members

  • Ensuring smooth operations across activity areas

  • Handling guest needs and problem-solving as they arise

Activities Assistant

  • Pay: $18.00 per hour

  • Season: May – October

The Activities Assistant supports the Activities Department at a higher level and works closely with leadership. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with planning and coordinating events and activities

  • Helping manage staff coverage and daily operations

  • Providing leadership support across departments

  • Ensuring guests and staff have a positive experience

Resort Ranger

Position Summary

The Resort Ranger at Waldenwoods Resort plays a key role in maintaining a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment for members, guests, and staff. This position blends guest service, safety oversight, policy enforcement, and event support within a private, resort campground setting. Resort Rangers serve as a visible on-site presence and are responsible for helping ensure that Waldenwoods Resort rules, standards, and community expectations are consistently upheld.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Guest Services

  • Greet members and guests in a professional, courteous, and welcoming manner

  • Provide directions, resort information, and assistance as requested

  • Respond promptly and respectfully to guest questions, concerns, and service requests

  • Promote a positive member experience aligned with Waldenwoods Resort standards

Patrol and Safety

  • Conduct routine patrols of campground, internal roads, trails, amenities, and event spaces

  • Monitor for safety hazards, unauthorized activity, and policy violations

  • Enforce resort rules, including quiet hours, speed limits, fire safety, pet policies, and access restrictions

  • Observe and report unsafe conditions, suspicious behavior, or incidents to resort management

Policy Enforcement

  • Educate members and guests on Waldenwoods Resort policies and campground rules

  • Address policy violations professionally, calmly, and consistently

  • Ensure that restricted areas and scheduled events are accessed only by authorized individuals

  • Document and report violations in accordance with resort procedures

Event Support

  • Assist with monitoring and supporting scheduled resort events and activities

  • Help manage event access, guest flow, and crowd control as needed

  • Ensure event-related policies are followed and disruptions are addressed promptly

Grounds and Facility Oversight

  • Observe and report maintenance, cleanliness, or safety issues throughout the resort

  • Perform light duties as assigned, such as minor cleanup or coordination with maintenance staff

  • Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and visually appealing resort environment

Emergency Response

  • Serve as an initial responder to minor medical situations, safety incidents, or resort emergencies

  • Follow established Waldenwoods Resort emergency procedures

  • Contact local emergency services when required and assist with evacuations or weather-related safety measures

Documentation and Communication

  • Maintain accurate daily logs of patrols, incidents, and guest interactions

  • Complete incident and policy violation reports in a timely and professional manner

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with resort staff using radios or approved communication systems

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and courteous in conflict or emergency situations

  • Ability to walk, stand, and patrol outdoors for extended periods

  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak seasonal periods

  • Valid Michigan driver’s license (required if operating resort vehicles)

Preferred

  • Minor maintenance skills

  • Prior experience in campground operations, hospitality, security, or facilities management

  • First Aid, CPR, or emergency response training

  • Familiarity with private campground or resort environments

  • Knowledge of basic safety, risk management, and guest relations practices

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Ability to walk and patrol uneven terrain for extended periods and lift up to 25–50 pounds occasionally

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying Michigan weather conditions (insects, natural terrain, etc.)

  • Moderate noise levels during peak seasons and resort events

Cleanliness & Sanitation

  • Wash and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes, and glassware

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on resort facilities, including buildings, grounds, and recreational areas

  • Conduct residential painting projects to maintain the appearance of cottages, villas, and common areas
